Sir Goodblade had turned out to be a con artist, and a poor one at that. Having spent all morning retrieving various items for him, and having their equipment severely damaged by a rather large slime, the three had nothing better to show for themselves than some scrolls, which they couldn’t use, and a handful of gold (Harmen’s’ share of which had gone straight to paying off his bar tab).

Over lunch, Harmen and Xzantor discussed what to do next, whilst Seras sat sullenly picking at her food, refusing to join in the conversation. The pair had tried involving her on several occasions, not to mention trying to make conversation with her when they were carrying out their jobs for Goodblade. But Seras had gone about her jobs in silence, speaking only when necessary. She didn’t even warn them about the traps when she spotted them. She would let them prattle on about their childhoods whilst she found and disarmed the traps silently. If they were stupid and ignorant enough to walk into them and set them off, that was their own lookout – she wasn’t their babysitter and she certainly wasn’t going to act like one.

After dinner, they ventured further into the harbour, where they spent the afternoon and most of the evening running errands for some of the locals, such as Garrison Felmar and Berrigan Enge.

As the night closed in on them, the party went to the nearby Leaky Dinghy tavern to dine, whilst enjoying the view of Stormreach harbour. Seras and Xzantor decided to spend the night at the new tavern as it was closer to the jobs that they had scheduled for the next day. Harmen, however, returned to the Wavecrest Tavern, where he spent the evening washing dishes in the hopes of clearing his debt that little bit sooner.

The next morning, whilst Harmen was still asleep and Seras was scouting the area for more possible jobs, Xzantor wrote a letter to his mother, to let her know that all was well. When he took his letter to the post-box, Xzantor was surprised to see that he had received post himself.

Upon closer inspection, it appeared that the letter was from his cousin Vornimar, who had left for Stormreach several years earlier. Vornimar had spent his time learning more of the spells that he needed as a sorcerer, and then later teaching these spells to others. However, now that he knew Xzantor and Seras were in the city, he was anxious to join them on their adventures for a change of pace. In his letter, Vornimar told Xzantor to make his way to the central marketplace of Stormreach, which was close by. Unfortunately, the only way into the market place was to gain a writ of commendation from Harbourmaster Zin.

Xzantor relayed all of this to Harmen and Seras, who agreed to visit the harbourmasters house once they had finished all of the jobs that they had taken on.
